Visit with Ellie Dillon

 We left Harlingen on 4-20-13 , drove to San Antonio to spend the afternoon with our friend Ellie.  She was a docent with us at Gladys Porter Zoo working in the Aviary.  Ellie had recently moved to SA to be closer to her daughter.

Out with the old..

March 25, 2013 A double wide on the corner next to Connie and Charley was removed from the park. I remember the day that unit was brought in and set up.

It was quite the effort with lots of challenges. 

 There were many eyes and cameras  about.

--First step was to "break" apart the unit. 

  Humm, will it fit between the trees?

 Connie's house was close and they needed to use her yard to maneuver.

Alright, the trees are still standing, and the crowd goes wild with cheers and applause ! [OK, maybe a bit of embellishment]

 The driver backs around the corner, then  forward out the gate.

Very soon the Crew returns to get section number 2

 A pan lid, bottle of water and can of soda was left on the counter as it travels down the road.  I wonder how long it stayed there.

A drive to South Padre Island with Cliff and Lavonne Custin for lunch.

Another sign as we leave,  so much fun and talk..Great time with friends Cliff and Lavonne.

A little ways up the road is Debbie Custin's  favorite place so we take photos just to taunt her.  She is in ILL in a snow storm.

Continuing on to the north end of the road we find the sand drifting across the road.  The plows and graders keep at least one lane open.  We do not have to contend with ice and cold.

Spring Breakers, Easter vacationers, Animal Lovers all make for crowded Sundays.

Taking our "Show On the Road " to a new location in a small fenced area that is little used. We can protect the Birds from grabbing hands and control the activities better.

Kathy is our main Girl with information in English and Spanish.

There is still lots of picture taking, just not so much touching which makes Scarlett very happy.  She told me so!

Soon another bird comes along wondering why we are in her area.  She is nesting under the tree and not sure she wants us around.  Bob, thinking he will just chase her away but she has a different plan and stays.

Soon New Bird and Paige discover each other.

Bob says , oh , no ,not a good idea.

Both Birds keep persisting on saying "hello".

"Are we going to fight over the water dish or share"?

" OH LOOK, BIRD FIGHT, "

I guess not,

Paige and New Bird seem to have found an understanding.

Later, Chef  Bob is busy in the prep area.
